It's great when you purhase a new cell, and you hope that the number is brand spanking new........UNTIL, you start to receive tons of phone calls for individuals you have no clue who even exist! This has been happening to me lately and I have just about had enough!!
Another thing, I don't think those who call and leave messages even bother to listen to the greeting, which makes me ask another question, "why am I paying for VM?" I clearly state my name and my non-association to the indivduals, yet msgs are still left.
Shall I change my number? Of course there is a fee for this, which I refuse to pay!!

if it were me and the calls got overbearing I would change the number but let the cell company waive the fees, afterall you did not request a recycled number.
